Mclean stood on the beach with a basketball in her hands, and her toes in the water. She couldn't see it, but she heard the waves crashing on the shore and felt the water rush and pull at her toes. Running her hands over the familiar basketball she listened to the camp. The only reason she was hear was to learn to fight, but there was no doubt in her mind that she would never actually leave.
She didn't even know what she looked like, what her family looked like. Staring out at the water she wondered why she was the blind one.
"I know you're there," she said, "I heard you come up."

Mclean shook her head, "Sorry I don't know what I look like."
She turned to where she thought he was and got a perplexed look on her face.

Mclean nodded and shrugged, "It's not like its a bad thing right? Well besides people lying about what they're doing or look like."

"well it's not like you can help it. So you really never saw your reflection?" he asked.

"I'm a clean slate," Mclean laughed, "I don't know anything about myself. I never asked."

"do you want to know? How come you've never asked anyone?" Bryce asked. He sat down knowing he had a lot more questions.

Mclean kept staring straight ahead of her not knowing he had sat down, "Never really cared enough to know. I mean I wouldn't know the color anyways."

"oh. That stinks. But I guess if you never knew what it was like you couldn't miss it." he shrugged.

"Exactly," Mclean laughed, "So the real question is who are you isn't it?"

Mclean had a thousand names that ran through her head. She could be anyone right now. Fay, Yen, Faywen, Awen, well anyone. But for some reason she didn't want to be someone else. She wanted to be the person she forgot when her stepmother left her dad.
"I'm Mclean."
