Chapter One
Luke stood next to the waves, looking out to sea. He remembered. Everything. Everything that had happened. Every one that he had killed. Just to get power. The monsters. The people. The demigods. Kronos. He still heard that Titan talking to him, urging him to take over the world. That voice that was still inside his head. Talking to him every day. Telling him to do something about the gods. Sometimes he wanted to scream. He still had nightmares. Of falling into a pit. Full of darkness. No light. Just pitch black. And then the voice would scratch at his heart. Saying things that weren't true. All lies. The truth. What was that exactly? All he knew was that he had made the wrong decision. Power. What a strong word. It lured many people into its grasp. Killing millions. Innocent. Children. Laughing girls and playful boys. Gone in a blink of an eye. Because of that simple word. Death. He knew what it was like to be dead. He was dead. Just a shadow of himself on this earth. A shadow of what he had been. A shadow. Nothing else. He was nothing. He was a man who had made the worst decisions in a life time. A short life time. He was. He had. He wanted to change. But he didn't know how.
Luke turned away from the sea at the sound of footsteps.

Mika had been walking down the beach but saw Luke standing in the surf. She walked towards him.
"hi" she said. Luke didnt answer.
"luke? are you there?" Luke shook his head and turned to Mika.
"i was just thinking."
"about what?"
"about my life and what a mess its been."
Mika thought hard for a second. Did she really want to ask this question?
"Are you thinking about the war agai-"
luke turned and tears were in his eyes. A sob wracked his body. Mika had never seen a grown man cry.
"shhh shhh shhh... its ok."
she said as she patted him on the back, not knowing what to do. He finally calmed down and looked at Mika. She was only fourteen and wasnt even in the war. But some how, he knew he could trust her. There was that look in her eyes that said she was a truthful person.
"Sorry... i..." said Luke.
Mika looked at him. Luke took a deep breath and went on.
"i was thinking about... the war... its... messed up so many peoples lives... and all because of me..."
Mika shook her head.
"it was Kronos not you."
"every one says that."
"but its true... theyve forgiven you luke and.... as a family... we still love you."
Luke remembered Liza's shining face and trusting eyes. How he had made her turn against him in a second. She was here at this camp. He couldnt talk to her.
"Who could love a person who has killed so many. Some one who hurt innocents. I know that their are whispers Mika. I hear them. Sometimes when i dont feel like being seen or felt... i walk around the camp. I hear them talk about me. They wonder why im here. I messed up the first time. How could they be sure i wouldnt do it again?"
Mika sighed. "there are those idiots in this camp who believe that... but the rest of us.. who saw you kill yourself... they wont forget that... you gave your life so that Kronos could be destroyed. None of the idiots would have had the guts to do that."
Luke closed his eyes. "It was one decision out of many... and the rest were bad decisions..."
Mika put her hand on his shoulder. "Yoir like a big brother to me... you were nice to me even when alot of other ppl werent... just because i was a zeus kid. You dont judge a book by its cover Luke."
Luke looked at the ground. Mika looked at the sky. "You can still make up for it Luke... you just have to want it..." Luke looked at her.
"You also need to say sorry to a few people who were hurt the most Luke."
Luke looked into Mikas green eyes. "For being fourteen... you know alot aboit life..."
Mika looked at the sea. "For being fourteen... Ive been through a lot in life."
Luke looked back at the water. Dolphins were playing with some hippocampis. His shoes were slipped off and his feet were being hit by the surf. But he couldnt feel it. He wish he were alive.
Mika took his hand. It was cold as ice. But that was how a ghost felt. And at camp... since the war... you ran into a lot of ghosts. He was a lot more fragile than he had been. He used to be the perfect example of a demigod. All that was gone now. He had no confidence. He had no will to be alive. He didnt even have a body. He was just a spirit. A solidified spirit but a spirit. Mika knew that she would never eant to have to come back to this earth as a spirit. Not to be able to feel anything. To be always cold. She shuddered.
Luke looked down at her. "Are you ok?"
Mika nodded. "the wind is a bit chilly."
Luke lifted his face to the sky. He looked at the ground. The only shadow he saw was mikas.
